Psychotria samoritourei Cheek is described from the submontane forests of the Loma-Man highlands in Upper Guinea West Africa. It is the sixth known lianescent African species of its genus. The distinguishing characters and taxonomic affinities of the species are analysed and its conservation status is assessed. An overview of the Loma-Man highlands and their forests is presented.
